Mouse Hover

Mouse Hover target confirmation in the recorder

Mouse Hover records moving the pointer to a specific position without clicking. Use it for elements that react when the pointer is placed over them, such as menus, tooltips, charts, and controls that appear only on hover.

  1. In the recorder, make sure you are in Live mode.
  2. Choose Mouse hover from the toolbox, then click the target position on the live screen.
  3. Review the selected coordinates in the contextual panel and click Confirm.

You can also right-click the target position and choose Mouse hover. In that case, the recorder uses the position where the context menu was opened and asks you to confirm it.

The new Mouse Hover event appears in the Session Timeline. During replay, TestCLIX moves the pointer to the stored coordinates without sending a click.

  • Opening dropdown menus that respond to hover
  • Displaying tooltips or contextual controls
  • Activating hover states before taking a screenshot or adding a check
  • Moving the pointer away from content that it currently covers
  • Hover uses screen coordinates, so large layout changes can move the target away from the recorded position.
  • If an animation or menu needs time to appear, add a pause after the hover step.
  • On touch-oriented pages, hovering may have no effect because the interface is designed for taps instead of pointer movement.
