Session Timeline
The Session Timeline appears at the bottom of the recorder and contains every recorded action in chronological order. It is used to review events, open Event Preview, replay the scenario to a selected point, and remove steps.
Timeline events
Section titled “Timeline events”Each event displays its position, type, details, and - in Detailed mode - the captured screen. Click an event to open its Preview. Hover over an event to see a larger summary without leaving Live mode.
Events after the current session position are dimmed. Before you can continue recording from an earlier point, TestCLIX must replay the scenario to that position.
Detailed and Compact layouts
Section titled “Detailed and Compact layouts”Use Change timeline mode at the bottom of the toolbox to choose:
- Detailed - larger event cards with screenshots and event details.
- Compact - smaller cards that fit more events on screen.
The selected layout changes only how the timeline is displayed. It does not modify the recorded scenario.
Replaying to a position
Section titled “Replaying to a position”The vertical handler marks the browser’s current position in the scenario. Drag it to a slot between events to replay the session to that point.
You can also hover over a slot, open its actions menu, and choose Replay session to this point. See Replay and Regenerate for the difference between moving forward and replaying from an earlier position.
Removing events
Section titled “Removing events”In Detailed mode, hover over an event and use the delete button to remove only that event.
To remove a step together with every step after it, open the actions menu in the slot before that event and choose Delete all further events.
If the removed range reaches the current browser position, TestCLIX offers two choices:
- Delete and Replay - remove the events and rebuild the browser state using the remaining timeline.
- Delete Only - remove the events without replaying immediately.
Navigating a long timeline
Section titled “Navigating a long timeline”Use the arrows in the timeline footer or scroll horizontally to move through a long recording. The footer shows the current position, total number of events, and a summary of the current event. The timeline automatically follows newly recorded and replayed steps.
