Codeless Recorder

The Codeless Recorder is how you build Website Scenarios in TestCLIX. Instead of writing test scripts, you interact with a real browser streamed from the cloud and the recorder captures every action — clicks, typing, scrolling, navigation — as replayable steps in a timeline.

The recorder runs entirely in the browser. When you start a recording session, TestCLIX launches a remote browser, streams the view to your screen, and records your interactions in real time. The result is a scenario that can be scheduled for automatic monitoring or run on demand.

Recording a scenario

When the session starts, the recorder opens your target URL and enters Live mode. From there, you interact with the page as a real user would. Each interaction becomes a step in the Session Timeline.

The recorder captures the following actions automatically:

Mouse Left Click Stored with both an XPath selector and screen coordinates for resilience.

Typing and Special Keys Regular text input and functional keys like Enter, Tab, and arrow keys.

Scrolling Both relative scrolling and absolute jumps, with consecutive scrolls merged into a single step.

History Navigation Browser back navigation.

Verification steps

Beyond recording interactions, you can add verification steps that check the page during monitoring:

Compare Screen Fragment Select a region and verify it looks the same on every run using structural similarity.

AI Assistant Describe what should be true about a screen region in plain language and let an LLM evaluate it.

Movie Checker Verify that video or animated content is actively playing in a selected region.

Screenshots Capture the page state at key moments for review and optional pixel comparison.

Additional tools

The recorder also provides tools for handling common challenges:

Text Paste Paste values into the remote browser session from your local clipboard.

Authentication (OATH) Automate TOTP multi-factor authentication steps.

Masked Fields Handle partial input challenges where different fields are enabled on each run.

Ignored Zones Mask dynamic content in screenshots to prevent false failures during verification.

Reviewing and maintaining scenarios

The recorder is not just for creating scenarios — it also helps you maintain them over time:

Replay and Regenerate Replay steps to verify they still work, or regenerate the timeline to capture fresh screenshots and auto-correct XPath selectors.

Combine Screens Resolve visual discrepancies directly from the Session Player by combining reference and current screens.
